# 10, October 2012
DOI: 10.7463/1012.0465528
P.V. Scherbachev, S.E. Semenov
The paper describes the construction diagram of a hydroelectric drive with throttle control. The authors consider an algorithm for controlling the drive, which increases its efficiency. They provide a mathematical model of the drive. The authors propose an algorithm for synthesis of the control signal; the algorithm is based on applying the method of modified Lagrange function for constrained minimization. As a criterion to be minimized the authors selected the flow rate of the pumping station subject to the minimum unevenness of rotational velocity of the output link of the drive. Calculation of points for optimization was performed by the numerical solution of equations for a mathematical model. The modeling resulted in control algorithm that significantly improved energy efficiency of the drive.

DOI: 10.7463/0912.0453646
A.A. Yakomaskin
Development of loop heat pipes (LHP) is connected with their miniaturization. To reduce thickness of the CTT it is necessary to optimize the evaporation zone. For this purpose, a pilot evaporator open to the atmosphere was created; it consists of a microchannel plate with intercostal length of 300 micrometers, a wick and a compensation chamber. The area of the heat supplier is 19x19 mm. Water is a heat carrier. The experiments provided data on temperature distribution along the height of the wick, on temperature in the compensation chamber and on temperature of a microchannel plate surface. These data offer opportunities to further optimize the evaporation zone, which will create thinner evaporators.

DOI: 10.7463/0912.0453572
E.M. Tausenev, A.E. Svistula
Development of high pressure fuel pumps for Common Rail (CR) was not in the focus of studies until 1997.In fact, problems of efficiency, resource, cost and simplicity were significant. In this paper much attention is paid to malfunctions of the plunger drive in CR high pressure fuel pumps. The authors consider the question of using desaxial in CR high pressure fuel pumps. The authors give the main results of studying the desaxial cam gear pump system of immediate action. In it the desaxial significantly affects reliability. As of today, there are no evidence-based recommendations for selection of desaxial value in CR high pressure fuel pumps. The authors prove the relevance of research of desaxial eccentric mechanism used in them; the authors specify requirements for safety of CR high pressure fuel pumps and describe the main malfunctions and their causes.

The article presents a review of previous studies on thermal effects during fuel injection. It was found out that the most important is fuel heating as a result of heat supply from the walls of the fuel pipe and due to compression. As of today, no one has studied yet the degree and causes of heating of fuel pipe walls during a benchmark testing of diesel engines and during operation in the engine compartment. It is not known to what extent this is affected by heating of the fuel system when heat comes from other parts of the and from hot air around it. The authors suggest that during the use of diesel in the engine compartment fuel heating will be higher than during benchmark testing of the diesel engine. This paper shows what solutions are used to reduce fuel heating in diesel and gasoline engines to date. The authors propose to study the possibility of applying insulating materials in order to reduce fuel heating in the fuel system of a diesel engine.

The paper describes the choice of main criteria for assessing the quality of building a drainage pump NM10000-210. The aim of selection of the main criteria is correct assessment of optimization of building drainage through simulation program STAR CCM +. According to simulation results values of evaluation criteria for 20 sample points were obtained. Further, after analyzing the simulation results and geometric parameters the authors defined ranges of changed geometrical parameters for which the quality criteria of profiling have the lowest / highest values. They suggest choosing the settings jointly by two criteria of quality assessment, while the determining criterion is minimization of friction losses.

This paper describes researches on inseparable methods of microorganism's biomass production, particularly - yeast biomass production by electro-flotation. The obtained data show that electro-flotation rate with separation of electrode spaces is approximately twice as high as the rate of regular flotation. For intensification of regular flotation and obtaining stable results, a laboratory plant with ejection flotation was created. Such flotation plant has advantages in formation of very small air bubbles. A set of experiments was carried out to prove the possibility of yeast suspension separation with vibration filters (acoustical filters) and hydro cyclones. The obtained data show high potential of inseparable methods of microorganism's biomass production including methods based on flotation. On the basis of these results, the electro-flotation tank allowing one essentially to increase efficiency of water purification at smaller specific energy consumption was developed and patented.

The dependences of the pump head and shaft torque on the pump flow were obtained by way of simulation. The results of numerical simulation were compared with experimental results subject to balance tests. Graphic illustrations of fluid flow in the flow part of the pump elements in different operation modes of the pump are presented in the article. The authors analyzed the error in the numerical experiment.

The article describes a new method of automated building parameterized 3D-models of centrifugal pumps. The purpose of modeling is to provide source data for optimization of air-gas channels in type HM pumps by hydrodynamic simulation methods. The first element to be optimised was a volute pump. The algorithm for constructing 3D-models of the discharge device is based on the Bezier curves. Basing on the basic geometrical parameters of the drain, the proposed method allows to automatically create its geometry in the most popular graphics packages SolidWorks and CATIA, and to export the package simulation STAR CCM +.
77-30569/347727 Optimization of geometric parameters of NM oil pump volute
# 03, March 2012
V.O. Lomakin, A.I. Petrov, A.I. Stepanyuk
In this paper the authors describe a technique of multi-criteria optimization of geometrical parameters of a retractor in the main NM oil pump. The optimization is based on the LP-tau search method; the test points are analyzed by the technique of numerical simulation of fluid flow inside the volute. An example of optimization of the volute of the NM3600-230 pump is presented. Minimization of head loss in the retractor and minimization of the radial load on the pump rotor were taken as optimization criteria. The variant of the flow part, which differed from the original one by smaller loss of the pressure head and significantly decreased load, was obtained as the result of optimization.
